Keep a usable record of the agreed work
Save the repair scope, date, location addressed, and the contractor’s contact details. Keep any supplied findings and warranty terms with that record. An invoice total alone may not explain which roof area was worked on.
| Keep this | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Dated scope | Shows which work was agreed |
| Location addressed | Distinguishes one repair area from another |
| Written terms | Identifies the applicable warranty and conditions |
| Later observations | Gives the next conversation a clear timeline |
Ask what follow-up is expected
Before the job is closed, ask about any recommended follow-up, observations to report, and applicable maintenance instructions. Follow the relevant written guidance; do not climb onto the roof to perform an inspection merely because this page suggests keeping records.
If a symptom returns, describe it afresh
State when it returned, what you observed, and whether the affected area is the same. Supply the old record without assuming the same cause or automatic warranty coverage. If there is immediate danger or urgent service need, use the appropriate direct contact.
Questions to take with you
- Keep the work description with the invoice.
- Ask what follow-up information is useful.
- Report new symptoms accurately and promptly through the appropriate channel.
Create a new observation note if the situation changes, and retain the previous repair record.
